Learn To Play Guitar (18:30 - 19:30)
 NEW Beginners Session from 06 November 2008
Have you always wanted to learn to play the guitar?
Have you got a guitar in the cupboard that is just itching to make some music?
We are starting regular weekly group guitar lessons on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm - 7.30pm for anyone who is interested in learning to play the guitar.
Maria is an experienced guitarist (plus also a singer/ songwriter and lead singer in a band called The Poems) and is also a passionate teacher so wants to pass on all that she knows.
Ideally, this is a bring-your-own-guitar event but Maria does also have some spare ones if you want to give it a go but don't have an instrument yet - please get in touch.

Djembe Drumming (6 Week Block) (19:45 - 21:15)
Drumming is so much more than just making a noise... it can help concentration, focus, co-ordination, counting, confidence and listening skills. You may also find it relaxing, energising, meditative and most of all…….fun. Wow!
So, why not come along and see for yourself?
The class is taught by Fiona McLaren and is suitable for Beginners and Returners. We'll work on the various parts of a rhythm and there will be the opportunity at the end of the 6 weeks, if people want, to invite family and friends and play what you've learnt.....no pressure, just a relaxed, social evening to end with a bang (pardon the pun!)
As well as playing djembe you will also have the chance to play dundun (bass drums) and bell patterns during the course.
£7.00 per week or £35.00 for 6 weeks
Please sign up to let us know that you are coming and drums will be offered on a first come basis.
Lastly, dont worry if you think you dont have rhythm - anyone with a heartbeat has rhythm!

Introduction To Beaded Jewellery Making (10:00 - 12:00)
Are you interested in designing your own unique jewellery? Then why not learn the skills and techniques needed to create your own hand-crafted jewellery.
This 2 hour workshop is suitable for anyone with no previous experience in jewellery making. All you need is reasonable manual dexterity and good eyesight or glasses!
You will learn how to:
- Use the correct tools safely
- Understand about the different beads and components used in jewellery making.
- Learn and practise the techniques used to create a basic loop, which can be used to make a wide variety of jewellery
- Learn the basics of earring construction.
Price includes all the beads and components and the use of tools during workshop.
Extra beads, components and tools can be purchased separately for home use.

Beginner's Guide To Practising EFT - A Practical Introduction (13:00 - 17:00)

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a gentle, simple and effective technique involving gentle tapping on the face and body with your fingertips. It is done seated and fully clothed, is non-invasive, easy to learn, and extremely effective. In this afternoon, you’ll learn all about EFT, so that after the workshop:
- You will have used EFT to begin to resolve one of your main problems in life (you choose which one!)
- You will have practised and become familiar with the technique, and know about its history and theory
- You will feel confident and able to use it on your own for a wide variety of problems
- You will know a powerful way to feel better about yourself
- You will know how to learn more if you want to

Thai Compress Massage with Christine Elphick
Hot compresses are bundles of specially chosen herbs that are wrapped up in muslin. They are then heated in a steamer that releases the healing properties and are applied to the body in a specific manner to increase energy flow, improve circulation, relax muscles and stimulate nerves. When applied to joints and muscles, hot compresses can soothe away pain and increase flexibility.
These little warm bundles are stroked over the body in a specific way, working along the meridian lines and can also be left to sit on specific acupressure points. Energy blocks can therefore be removed and the subtle energy is allowed to flow in a healthier manner, so benefiting the entire person.
The training will enable you to choose the appropriate herbs and make the compresses specifically suited to your client and to carry out a full body massage. The full procedure can be adapted to carry out treatments for specific smaller areas such as the back, neck and shoulders, legs or to carry out a facial.
Topics covered include: Overview of Thai Herbal medicine – The four body elements Earth, Water, Air and Fire and their effects - location and stimulation of energy points and meridians - the properties of suitable herbs and how to select them – making the herbal compresses – carrying out a full body massage using specific oils and herbal compresses
