Deborah has been painting full-time since 2003 and is usually inspired by memories of a particular day, place or experience.
A significant influence of her work is the landscape of the Outer Hebrides and she finds the act of creating a piece of work challenging, exciting, wonderfully absorbing and fulfilling (plus occasionally immensely frustrating)!
Although the islands are still a very strong influence, Deborah also works on many other themes. Texture excites her: man-made things being reclaimed by nature, looking very closely at things others may not notice and finding the beauty in them are elements which run through her work.
She held her first solo exhibition in 2005 and had work accepted by the RGI (Royal Glasgow Institute) in 2006 (and sold on opening night). Deborah recently had an exhibition at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh entitled 3 (bringing together the work of Deborah, Mike McNiven & John Gardner). The exhibition finished on Wednesday 31 October but her work is constantly exhibited at a variety of galleries within Edinburgh (more details at www.deborahcameron.com).
Deborah is delighted to accept commissions. Please do not hesitate to get in touch or check out more images on the website.
